As discussed in “Effect of Heat Treatment Processes on Metals and Alloys-A Review,” heat treatment uses controlled heating, holding, and cooling to modify the properties of metals and alloys. Different treatments can influence hardness, yield strength, microstructure, and other mechanical characteristics.
Processes examined include annealing, normalizing, hardening, tempering, vacuum treatment, and microwave heat treatment. Because each approach affects materials differently, heat treatment selection depends on the metal or alloy and the properties required for its intended application.
